Teeth Whitening

Central Point Teeth WhiteningServing Patients from Medford, Klamath Falls, Ashland, Yreka and Central Point

Tooth discoloration affects everyone to some degree as the years pass. Coffee drinkers, red wine drinkers, and tobacco users experience stained teeth earlier than others. Even if you do not consume these products regularly, there are a number of foods in the average American diet that will stain your teeth over time. If you do not smile with the confidence you once had because your teeth are stained, then it is the perfect time for you to look into teeth whitening.

There are two common ways to go about whitening your teeth. You may choose the professional in-office, dentist-assisted method, or you may purchase a take-home kit and do it on your own time. At Eagle Point Dental, we can provide you with the best of both options.

Our in-office whitening procedure

We use the state-of-the-art DenMat Plasma Arc Light. Most professional whitening systems use an ultraviolet light to activate a peroxide gel that removes the stains from the teeth. This exposure to ultraviolet light can cause significant discomfort, especially to those with sensitive teeth and gums. We have found the plasma arc light to be just as effective as UV, with the added benefit of less pain and tooth sensitivity.

The DenMat system uses a 25 percent active ingredient peroxide gel that also contains desensitizing agents for maximum comfort. This gel is applied to the teeth, and then the light is applied to the teeth for approximately 30 minutes. After the 30 minutes has elapsed, the light is turned off, the gel is removed, and the teeth are checked for brightness. If you and your dentist decide you would like your teeth a few shades whiter, then a second coating of gel can be applied and the process repeated.

After the laser tooth whitening process is complete, you will be given a special mouthwash, fluoride and vitamin E treatment to further alleviate any gum or tooth sensitivity

Take-home kits

Take-home kits are your other option. These typically consist of a lower dosage peroxide gel and trays that you wear at your convenience. This is a more economical way to go, however, this method takes longer and generally does not have the same quality results as professional whitening. Please visit our over the counter vs. professional whitening page for a thorough comparison of these two methods. Keep in mind that the take-home kits we provide are of a higher quality than what you will find available over the counter.

Everyone deserves to have a bright, white, confident and beautiful smile. If you live in Southern Oregon and have stained teeth, please contact us today to set up your teeth whitening consultation.
