Very few of us have been blessed with perfect teeth, a perfect smile, and no neuromuscular dental problems. But, even the rare individual who has had such luck will eventually experience some tooth discoloration, and perhaps a chipped tooth, or worn teeth. Fortunately, for the rest of us, the field of cosmetic dentistry is here to help. Virtually any dental problem, be it aesthetic or functional, can be corrected with today’s techniques and technology. Here are just a few of the more common cosmetic dental conditions that can be treated:
Crooked teeth - A number of treatments are available depending on the degree of crookedness. Traditional orthodontics and braces are available, as are instant orthodontics including porcelain veneers, Invisalign, and tooth reshaping for more minor corrections.
Chipped teeth - Minor chipping can usually be corrected with enamel shaping and dental bonding. Larger chips or fractures may require porcelain veneers or crowns.
Discolored teeth - Many things can cause tooth discoloration. Stained teeth can be whitened in-office or by take-home whitening kits. Teeth that have been discolored by trauma, disease, medications or other factors can benefit from crowns, veneers, and onlays.
Missing teeth - Tooth implants and dental bridges are the best treatment for missing teeth. It is strongly encouraged that you visit a dentist promptly if you have lost a tooth. Left untreated, a missing tooth will inevitably cause further dental complications.
Gaps between teeth - Gaps, or diastemas, can be treated a number of ways depending on the cause. Your options may include traditional or instant orthodontics, crowns, bridges, or surgery to remove excess gum tissue.
Misshapen teeth - Misshapen or malformed teeth can be corrected with bonding, crowns or veneers.
Gummy smiles - This condition may be corrected by a simple gum reshaping procedure. More severe cases may require surgical lip repositioning or maxillofacial surgery to correct jaw over development.
If any of the above conditions are keeping you from smiling with confidence, we can help. Today’s corrective treatments are more natural-looking, durable, and affordable than ever.
